| Is anyone worried about the crowds this season? Just over 10,000 is a poor crowd for a season opener and Huddersfield for once brought a decent amount over, certainly more than the average side brings to Langtree Park. It was also the season opener, which is usually around 2,500 higher than the same fixture would get in mid season, due to the buzz of the season being back. The weather is the only counter weight and it was raining so hard that perhaps there were a few hundred who bottled out on the night. But then again, do we even have cash turnstiles anymore? Can you just turn up and pay like the old days?
We know the 5 year deals have come to an end now and I'll bet a big proportion of those haven't bothered to renew at the higher prices, when the fare on offer last season was so poor. The Super League product is very poor these days, good quality games like the Leeds v Warrington game are rare, when they used to be every week for the Sky games.
Could we see crowds for the Wakefield, Catalans, Cas, Hull KR games slip well below 10,000 this season? Average down below 10,000 as well a possibility?

| I think crowds will be down this year. Mainly as the 5yr season ticket deal as ended and it's only natural that some won't renew.
Huddersfield never bring many anyway so I didn't expect a big crowd last Friday.
Maybe one big name siging might have boosted the crowd a little.

| Our first game last season was 12008 against Catalan (8 fans) but we were super league champions then so there might have been a few fans jumping on the trophy bandwagon that season. Probably this season I can see the majority of clubs losing fans as austerity has kicked in, super league standard is lower, weather is shocking etc etc.

| I feel as we go on crowds will suffer, bad weather, Live match on TV, who seem to show tries as they happened and the cost, its not being negative just facts.

It's a concern. The club didn't release any press statements about season ticket sales this season, for probably the first time since we've been in the new ground, which doesn't bode well. We suspected it was coming with the 5 year deals ending.
If the crowds are down by 1,000 that would amount to roughly £300,000, 2,000 by roughly £600,000. For a club that is already losing money it's not a good picture. Food for thought for those who were happy with the club making no signings of note last season.
Obviously it goes without saying that this hopefully won't transpire and it was just a blip caused by the weather on Friday.
Saints need to do their best to ensure it doesn't happen as well. I've suggested fairy lights and a riot, there are other ways to generate an atmosphere at a venue they could consider.

| I was surprised when the crowd was announced, thought it would be around 11,000. Disappointing, but not that surprising given the apparently large fall in season ticket sales. I also thought the atmosphere was poor for the first game, crowd in the west stand could barely muster a chant in the first half.

| I just don't think that the club gets it how media/press and advertising should be done, It was released recently how the club had fallen right down the league table in sport when it comes to dealing with press and media. Then only last week there was a lot of bad feeling within the media after the Huddersfield match, before the after match press conference started those attending were told they would not be allowed to record or broadcast any of the conference, it has created a debate by some media consultants that this is worrying?
It was only in the RL weekly press in the last week or so how McManus was critical of how the RFL promote the sport in the media & advertising???

Released where? And what league table?

The only response I saw to that was from Chris Irvine, who was enthusiastic about it.
