I've got a bottle of limited edition Macallan single malt to sample. I've not tried it before so i'll have a smell of it and let you know if it will be our new owner.

I'm not an expert by any stretch of the imagination but I do like to have a selection of single malts on the go. Always like to try new ones. At the moment I've got a bottle of Laphroaig, Auchentoshan, Penderyn and the Macallan still to try.

I'm easy to buy for at Christmas if you're struggling what to get me.

I had never heard of it till Stan roped me in, but you might want to investigate the Scotch Malt Whisky Society. As it so happens, while they are in Scotland (and a London venue) they are having an event in Harrogate on 29th August.

You won't find any single malt with a "name". These are the royalty of malts, one-off brews, not named, just numbered, which when they're gone, they're gone.

There are different categories of membership and the basic is free.

Great selection, knowledgeable & friendly. Gin selection good as well.

Here's where I misspent a fair part of my youth experimenting with single malts (they used to have every single one - maybe they still do, not been in for donkeys)

Has anybody visited any of the distilleries? I've never had the chance but it's something that I'd like to do. I've been around plenty of breweries. Can't imagine that you'd get a free bar at the end of the tour though.
