Free admission to CC games is perhaps the only way to rescue attendances as the modern day season-ticketed fan of Sooper Dooper League and it's parent company Sky Sports are averse to coughing up the dosh for one-off cup games.

Er, no, it isn't. People either go to something they want to go to nowadays, or they don't. If they want to go they will pay a modest fee which is a fair description of all CC tickets. Making it free would not attract any significant extra numbers. If I just don't fancy an event, the I won't go, whether or not I have a free ticket.

Imagine what it would've have been if the best supported clubs (Leeds, Wigan, Wire, Saints) had been the home teams instead and Hull had played at the weekend instead of Thursday. Another 10,000+ at least.
