Has anyone had any experience in trying to insure their young son / daughter who has just passed their test ? the quotes i am getting are unbelievable . Also does any one know if i could be a registered keeper of 2 cars . Any advice would be really appreciated .

Andrew was an 'early' driver and we had his car in the wifes name until she wanted one/we could afford one then he went on his own but he would have been about 20, his Rover 75 costs him a small fortune to insure.
Our Dave was on his own insurance and car even before he passed but he was a more 'older' driver.
You can register as many cars as you like but the insurance companies have cottoned onto it big time, Pass plus can save you like has been said.

also a lot of insurance places will lower the cost if your son puts a named driver on the policy who has a few year no claims. they deem it to be safer as a novice driver wont always be behind the wheel.

Be prepared to take the hit on the first year but should drop quite substantially thereafter.

I had my own policy straight away with Quinn Insurance and it was a bit pricey to begin with but dropped hugely thereafter and were excellent to deal with when I had a 'bump' a couple of years ago.

I have 5 years no claims and still have to pay close to £700 a year

all because i used to drive for a living. My mate is 19 and has a 1.3 starlet turbo and he has too pay £2000 with 1 years no claims

Thanks for all your advice im still searching . The best deal at the moment is 1200 as a named driver thats with Admiral . Its a nightmare .

There are one or two companies where you can add a named driver & the named driver attracts a NCD as well.Direct line/Churchill I think.
