Dave K.:
I'm a little surprised at the lack of ambition by Amone, has gone back, joined the form team and failed to get into their side and it seems he has just given up, he could have stuck it out and either tried to force his way into the side when a few injuries happen or looked to move to a lesser NRL side. Could have easily stayed in the NRL for this season and next and back himself to make an impression, if it failed would have still got a great SL team. Seems to have taken the easy way out.
Clifford could have done the same, but he worked hard, waited for his chance and then proved he was good enough.
Of all the players who went to the NRL from SL last year, I thought Amone had the most chance to be successful.
I think the visa rules will play a part in this. A SL deal for Clifford was always difficult, even before he broke into the Cowboys team, as he needed to have played a percentage of first grade games last year to get a GBE. If Amone had stopped at the Bulldogs this year, he would've found it difficult to play first grade anywhere next year. I imagine he'll have an NRL clause in his contract.
