Step 1 - Buy Salford and try to buy their shiny new ground
Step 2 - Buy a Football Club and move them to said "Shiny New Ground"
Step 3 - Abandon RL club as actually what you wanted all along was a football club.


Perhaps I'm biased in this thinking but we had a lot of interest at Wakey from Steve Parkin but there were plenty of rumours around that actually what he wanted all along was a chance to own/run a football club with a chance of getting into the Football League

I think the the Hull KR fan above was referring the Salford/Oldham merger which was mentioned before the start of Super League to form a Manchester club (over my dead body), but I can see why people would make the link.
