They've asked for a name change, which has been done, UAE Rugby League to Rugby League Commission. Same for Touch Rugby. No big deal

Surely the rlif should have had the sport registered as an official sport with UAE authorities before a competition started?
Union are scared of leagues potential, as they should be. Their product is an inferior version and they know it.
I do wonder if it is time RL cut all ties with"rugby" and globally rebranded as a totally different sport. Maybe something like "league football". Would get rid of the confusion, cut the rugby union blockades off at the knees, help with things like Olympic recognition etc radical but maybe time for Rugby League to cast off its inferior cousin?

Like I said on another forum, I think league football would be just as confusing to the reader of a sports column.
Get rid of rugby and get rid of foot. Leagueball. Easy! |
