| Just to rub a bit of extra salt into the wound, I got a £50 parking ticket last night. The ticket says it was for not displaying a P&D ticket, but I was told where I was parked wasn't P&D! Can anyone confirm this for me as I am going to contest the ticket, or am I waisting my time. I've indicated roughly where I was Parked.

There is a warning on there about parking on robin park carparks. I know there was something in the paper a while back about bringing in pay and display and or clamping on those carparks due to match traffic using them but i don't know what the current setup is (whether it is pay and display for everyone or whether they are just watching for people in colours etc.).

| People who go to Gala bingo on match days are told to park at the top end were you parked, as it's free there. Whether you can contest it is open for debate as you didn't go to Gala. It's worth a try though I suppose. Tell them you were at the bingo, they can't prove you wasn't.

If it's from a PPC (Private Parking Company) you can pretty much get away with not paying it. I have had one of these before at University and all I did was ignore their correspondence and then eventually sent them a cease and desist letter.
What is the company called that gave you this ticket? Also, does it mention you 'entered into a contract' when you parked there?
If it does, just ignore it. If they get your details from the DVLA, they will hound you with letters and potentially phone you and act like they are sending bailiffs round. They will also threaten you with court etc..
If it's from Wigan Council, you'll have to pay it.

Have a good read of both of those links and decide what you want to do. Like I said, if it's from the council, you'll have to either pay it or contest it properly. Anything other than that, make your own mind up - I will never pay private tickets.

yes only on game days. A pick up brings a mobile ticket machine on a trailor. dont know about the footpath divides the free bit and the pay and display bit though
