Was there any other talk about signings this evening.

Where signings are concerned if MC told me today was Monday i’d check the calendar to make sure!

Would be an upgrade on either Wood imo.

He certainly gave us the run around when we played them last.

Not sure how you come to that conclusion.

Had a fairly undistinguished career all told.

He’s nowhere near as good as Kyle at his best but I grant you age is not on his side but then Hood is hardly young.

I just haven’t seen enough of Josh to make a decision as he has never had a crack when the team is something like on form.

Not that I think Hood would be a bad signing but let’s not guild the Lilly here, he’s very much a Wakey signing for a British player, decent and hard working and hopefully a point to prove but no superstar.

Leigh fans seem to think he’s amongst the best of not the best player they have. Always seems. Busy player to me too.

You hit the nail on the head with the above. Kyle is right at the back end of his career and imo we haven’t seen his best for some time. It’s few and far between these days although he has been a fantastic player for us I think it’s time.

Also regarding Josh Wood. Thats kind of the point. He just isn’t on the field enough to justify a contract in such a pivotal position. I also think he’s great in D but offers little in the way of attacking play or swift distribution. I don’t doubt his effort though.

The sticking point is though who is available. Hood i would see as a replacement for Josh Wood.

Matt Shaw is again repeating the news of the signing this morning.

MC was clearly irked when told it was Shaw who had reported it.

Was that because:

a) He feels Matt Shaw is a terrible jouro who gets more wrong than he gets right?

b) He is irked because Matt Shaw has broken a confidence/embargo?

If it's "b", it matters because Leigh haven't announced anything and we have 2 players OOC, at least 1 of whom he would be replacing. There's a way to do things.

I'm still thinking "a" in this instance.

I tend to agree more closely with this view. I think Hood is about on a par with Josh ability wise but might be better value for money if he actually gets on the field. I don't think he is as good as Kyle even at his current age, Hood himself would be 30 before he plays a game for us and there's a reason why he's spent all his career in the championship or at teams who end up relegated. He's solid enough no doubt but won't take us to the next level.
